Objectives and Highlight:
Hebei Overseas Chinese School (HEBOCS) supplies the wonderful opportunity for the oversea students to study the Mandarin Chinese language and culture in China each summer with the objectives to:
1. Improve your ability of listening, speaking and writing Chinese
2. Express your ability to use Chinese through making friends, living and studying with the Chinese students
3. Learn the Chinese culture and experience the immense modern change of China.
In addition, based on previous feedback, starting this year, the camp specially arranges teaching assistant opportunity for high school seniors and above level / university students to make this overseas learning experience more in depth and more affordable.
Program Description: 
This program provides high quality standard Mandarin Chinese listening, speaking, reading and writing trainings by experienced Chinese as Second Language (CSL) teachers from Hebei overseas Chinese school. The program also provides multiple Chinese culture activities and field trips to enrich students’ knowledge about Chinese people. In addition, students will live and study together with Chinese students to increase daily interactions to give students real experience of living in China. For qualified students, the program also provides opportunities to help Chinese students learning oral English to enhance their learning experience in China.
Activity Highlights:
1 、Formal Chinese Classes in small group ( there will be less than 10 students each group, depending on their Chinese level tested in the beginning of the session) to learn Chinese Pinyin, Conversation, Reading and Writing Skill using the highly recommended learning Chinese book ----<< China Panorama >>. 2 、Fun filling interactive lessons / tours about Chinese culture, history and tradition. Activities include but not limited to learn Chinese Calligraphy, observe Chinese Kungfu, make Dumplings, visit Chinese national table tennis training center—the candle of world champion, taste the famous food.
3、 Field Trips locally and to Beijing, the capital City: such as the Great Wall, Tiananmen square, Temple of Heaven, 2008 Beijing Olympic Games Stadiums etc.
4、Culture exchange and fun party with Chinese students at the end of the session.
In addition, this year, we specially arranged for qualified students to help teaching Chinese students oral English in the afternoons, see teacher activity schedule. If you are qualified, you can enjoy a 50% discount of the tuition.
Activity Duration:
You have the flexibility to join one or multiple sessions up to 60 days as dated below. We highly recommended you to join at the beginning of a session, in case you have to arrive in the middle of the session, fees will be prorated.
* The first session：July 1－July 15（15 days）
* The second session：July 16－July 30（15 days）
* The third session： July 31─August 14（15 days）
* The fourth session：August 15 ─ August 29（15 days）
If you do not chose to be a Teaching Assistant in teaching Oral English in China, schedules are as following:
1.The 15 days activity form
2.The 30 days activity form
3.The 45 days activity form
4.The 60 days activity form

To qualify as an English teaching assistant, you must be
- At higher school senior or above education level,
- Learned Chinese for at least 6 month, speak basic oral Chinese.
- Teaching assistant or tutoring experience preferred.
- You must commit to complete your assigned duty.
- A 10 minutes phone interview will be conducted by our recruiter.
You will be notified whether you are in the TA program as soon as we verify the above qualification. |
Picking up and Dropping off:
Provided by Hebei Overseas Chinese School.
Option 1: Beijing Capital Airport, Beijing , China . (4.5hrs driving or 2.5hrs trains to the School)
Option 2 (preferred) Shijiazhuang Airport, Hebei, China (40 minutes driving to the School) |
Lodging & Meals:
A double-bed room (three-star hotel standard) designated for overseas students provided by Hebei Overseas Chinese School.
- The girls and boys will have separate rooms.
- Meals are provided for all campers. International foods are available at nearby chain restaurants.
- Per your request, we can provide arrangement for you to live with a local friendly family.
- Parents can enjoy the same treatments as the foreign students, including lodging, meals and so on.
